NAFDAC DG confirms that Indomie Special Chicken Flavour is unregistered

The Director-General of the National Agency for Food, Drugs Administration and Control (NAFDAC), Prof Mojisola Adeyeye, has stated that the popular noodle brand, Indomie Special Chicken Flavour, is not registered for sale in Nigeria by the agency. Adeyeye made this disclosure while announcing that NAFDAC has started sampling and analyzing other Indomie noodles flavors, including their seasonings, for the presence of ethylene oxide, a cancer-causing compound that was allegedly discovered by Taiwanese and Malaysian authorities.

Despite being one of the most consumed instant noodle brands in Nigeria, the NAFDAC DG assured Nigerians that the regulatory agency maintains a strict manufacturing practice regime covering all aspects of Good Manufacturing Practice for all noodles products registered in Nigeria.

Adeyeye also disclosed that NAFDAC will conduct a thorough investigation of the products at both factory and market levels. The agency will communicate its findings to the public. The NAFDAC DG stressed that the public should note that the implicated Indomie Instant Noodles Special Chicken Flavour is not registered for sale in Nigeria.
