The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has issued a clear statement to dispel any misconceptions regarding the deployment of corpers to the Niger Republic for military involvement. The organization addresses the viral claims that NYSC members might be sent to join military activities in light of the ongoing coup in the Niger Republic.

In response to a video circulating on social media suggesting such a deployment, Eddy Megwa, NYSC’s Director of Press and Public Relations, released an official statement in Abuja on Saturday to counter the rumors. The statement emphasizes that the claims made by the purveyor, who is a content creator, are entirely fabricated and devoid of any truth.

The statement clarifies, “Management wants to make it clear that the story concocted by the individual, who is a skit and content creator, holds no merit." It continues, "The general public, especially youth corps members, potential members, and their parents, are urged to disregard this story, which is not only false but also has the potential to contribute to criminal activities."

Furthermore, the statement advises content creators and skit makers to refrain from spreading false information that could undermine the nation's peace and stability. This incident serves as a reminder of the importance of responsible communication and the impact it can have on society.

As the NYSC addresses these rumors, it remains steadfast in its commitment to providing accurate and reliable information to the public, ensuring that the welfare and safety of all corps members are a top priority.
