Bryan Ferguson previously served as the representative for District 1 in the Detroit Police Board of Commissioners and held the role of chairperson for the city's police department. In a statement provided to the Detroit Free Press, Ferguson expressed gratitude for the opportunity to oversee police matters and acknowledged that stepping down from his role was in the best interest of both his family and the Board. He officially resigned as the District 1 Police Commissioner with immediate effect.

While speaking with the Detroit Free Press, Ferguson vehemently denied any wrongdoing and characterized the allegations as a "big misunderstanding." He maintained that he had nothing to hide and claimed that the woman involved, whom he claimed to be unfamiliar with, unexpectedly entered his vehicle and initiated the encounter.

Clearly affected by the situation, Ferguson expressed the emotional toll it has taken on him, particularly in terms of having to discuss the incident with his family. He acknowledged the difficulty of the circumstances and the challenging conversations that lie ahead.
