Nigerian singer Divine Ikubor, also known as Rema, recently expressed his opinion on modern relationships during an interview with i-D Meets podcast. According to the young and talented musician, a significant number of relationships in this generation are solely focused on making money, which he believes is reflected in his favourite lyrics from his debut album, 'Rave & Roses', where he sings "love is not a source of income." Rema went on to share that this lyric came from his personal experience.

The singer also noted that he finds it difficult to define love because everyone must live their own version of it. He said, "It's painful that I can't really define love. You've to live your own version. I have not lived my version. I'm waiting for it, though." Rema's comments on relationships in this generation highlight a prevalent issue that many young people face today. The pressure to succeed financially can sometimes take precedence over finding true love and building genuine connections with others. However, Rema's stance also emphasizes the importance of staying true to oneself and not compromising personal values in the pursuit of financial gain.
