Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has taken a proactive step to cover the medical expenses of 12-year-old Adebola Akin-Bright, whose small intestines were reported to have gone missing during treatment at LASUTH. The boy's mother, Deborah Abiodun, had sought the governor's assistance, and Sanwo-Olu responded by visiting the boy and his mother at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital. During this visit, the governor pledged his commitment to Adebola's medical care and expenses, ensuring his recovery and reunion with his family. Sanwo-Olu expressed this commitment on his X (formerly Twitter) profile, emphasizing his determination to see the boy's health restored.

The incident had previously caused a stir, with LASUTH releasing a statement on September 3rd, denying allegations of tampering with the boy's small intestines. According to LASUTH, the patient had undergone two surgeries at a private hospital before being referred to LASUTH for further care. During surgery at LASUTH, certain unusual findings were discovered, and the hospital claims that corrective surgery was performed without any intentional removal of organs. LASUTH is cooperating with state agencies investigating the case and has urged against using social media for what they consider a blackmail of the state government.
