The Metropolitan Police in the UK have issued a stern warning to Nigerian wives and mothers, advising them against the practice of evicting their husbands from their homes.

This caution was delivered during a church service at Divine Restoration International Church, which is situated at Hanworth House on John Ruskin Street in Camberwell, London.

The event, specifically designed for a predominantly Nigerian female audience, highlighted a concerning statistic that over 70% of Yoruba women in England, Wales, and Ireland are single mothers. It was suggested that some might be using the threat of police involvement against the fathers of their children as a tactic to secure welfare benefits.

An officer, who was supported by colleagues from various backgrounds, warned these women against involving the police in family disputes, stressing the crucial role that fathers play in the upbringing of their children. He emphasized the importance of a father’s presence to prevent children from missing out on essential paternal care.

Furthermore, the officer urged the women to avoid becoming victims of knife crimes, an issue that is particularly prevalent within African diaspora communities. He highlighted the necessity for both parents to actively participate in their children’s lives to foster a safer and more supportive environment for the youth.
