Retired Major-Gen. Pat Akem-Vingir, who is also a pastor of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), has stated that the church plays a crucial role in alleviating the effects of hardship in Nigeria. Speaking at the dedication ceremony of the new RCCG branch called ‘Jesus House’ in Abuja, presided over by Pastor Enoch Adeboye and attended by thousands of RCCG members and dignitaries, Akem-Vingir emphasized the importance of religion, especially the church, in providing hope, direction, and purpose for the majority youth population in the country.

The pastor further asserted that the church has a unique and special place in Nigerian society, and if removed, the country would collapse. He pointed out that 70% of the population is youthful, and the church serves as a place where they can find hope, direction, and purpose. According to him, without the church in Nigeria doing what it is doing; serving as the light of the world and the salt of the earth, the degradation would have been more than anyone can imagine.

The new RCCG branch in the Durumi area of Abuja is a magnificent 5-storey facility that can accommodate up to 3,000 worshippers at once. During the dedication ceremony, Pastor Adeboye expressed gratitude to God for the successful completion of the project, praying that the building would be a beacon of hope for the afflicted and a place of worship for generations to come.

In conclusion, the RCCG, under the leadership of Pastor Enoch Adeboye, is committed to uplifting the spiritual and socio-economic well-being of Nigerians. Through the establishment of new branches such as ‘Jesus House,’ the church is fulfilling its mission of being a source of hope and direction for the country's youth population and a beacon of light in Nigerian society.
